Are they independent contractors or employees?
Many employers make the mistake of labeling their workers as independent contractors when they are actually employees.
It is often desirable to call your employees independent contractors because then you don’t have to pay payroll taxes and are not liable for payments under workers’ compensation, disability insurance, unemployment insurance or social security.
